The recent case on Casey Anthony really hits home for Cody and I. When Wyatt was 2 years old, Hollie went out of control after a fight with the guy she was seeing at the time. She told a McPherson police officer that she was going to kill her son and herself. We would have known nothing about it except the guy called us hoping maybe she would come out to our house. Only she didn't and in fact we had no idea where she was. They had 13 units looking for her, some volunteer and some paid professionals. The searched from Marion county to Saline county. Cody and I were out looking for him as well. We kept in contact with her boyfriend who talked with Wyatt once and could not figure out where they were only that mommy was sleeping. It was the longest night of our lives 2 weeks before we were suppose to get married in fact. They finally found her at her home and she acted like nothing was wrong. The police tried to arrest her and she resisted punching one of them in the face and trying to kick out their window once they finally got her into the car. Wyatt was put in our custody for a short week while she went through some mental testing. She was found to be bi polar.
We finally had our chance to get him away from her. He had been abused, neglected, and mistreated for 2 years. We had to wait till December for our case to be heard. It was a long 5 months. Finally the court date was here. We had everything we needed to prove she was an unfit mother..... and the judge gave her one more chance. Seriously what one more chance to actually kill him? For almost 6 years we have been dealing with abuse, neglect, and mistreatment of a little one who cannot fight back for himself.
I looked at that little girl and that is exactly what I see happening. The judge giving her one more chance and this is what happened, the world lost an innocent little girl.
It scares us to death that that might be Wyatt someday. We do everything we can to keep that from happening, but there is always a chance.Which is scary as hell!
